Summer Fashion, Auckland 2017

New season. New collection of clothes I wear on repeat.

Summer is the best time of year for getting dressed. I love shorts, I love warm, shimmery colours, I love soft cotton, lazy dressing and light layers. This summer I stuck in Auckland which is one of those perpetually grey and humid cities with a few absolute stunning days thrown in between so I have been able to lazy dress to my hearts content.

Again I obviously no stylist/model and looking back I was obviously a being loose with my photos as they are a bit IDGAF, but it’s summer and we are worry free and floating through so it is well on vibe.

Also disclaimer most of my prices are approximations because I can’t remember how much everything cost. Clothes are something I repeat and keep for a long time so they are something I invest in (though this summer they were all presents, I am spoilt).

Have to admit the start of the week is a bit more sweet during summer, but it’s still the first day of work so it’s ok to use the time we would normally do our hair to drink a cup of coffee and mentally prepare.

Tip: One good item is worth 100 less good ones. There are about one million of these slip dresses floating around this summer. I bought the prettiest, most quality one in this silk material. It fits well and it stands out from all the others because it makes me look like a shiny barbie doll. The point is that sometimes its good to buy like 3 cheaper, less quality items because $$$ but also sometimes it is the better idea to get the one, best one.

Listening to: Paris- The Chainsmokers

(Slip dress – Glassons $35)(Bralette – Glassons $25)(Jacket – Glassons $35) (Hat – Vietnam Market $5) (Shoes – Sketchers $135)

Something that is simultaneously dlow and an overt part of my personality is how girly I am. I love pink. I love soft. I want to be a princess.

Tip: Clash your colours. Wear pink and turquoise, wear purple and yellow, wear orange and green. If you are having fun with your outfits than you are doing the best.

Listening to: Castle on the Hill – Ed Sheeran

(Dress – Glassons $50)(Socks – Christmas gift holla)(Shoes – my winter classics still going strong, $125)

We are halfway through the week! Yet again my hair has reached its weekly low but I am celebrating both the sun and that we have almost found ourselves at another beautiful weekend.

Tip: Sneakers are the best summer shoe in that they can handle the city, the beach, bush walks, the clubs, work and any other adventure that might throw itself onto you. Also they’re comfortable. I think they get a bad rep considering how many pretty pairs there are – a worthy investment I say.

Listening to: Punching In A Dream – The Naked and Famous (excellent free concert this week!! thanks 2degrees)

(Playsuit – Vietnam Markets $20) (Sneakers – Sketchers $135)

Chillier days (way too common still) mean a trade in of shorts for jeans. I loved these ones because of the colour and how high the waist sits. I am not really a rip-at-the-knee fan but I could over look that small imperfection to be the happy owner of these.

Tip: If your jeans do have ripped knees proceed with great caution. I wore these to work one time and managed to split the knee when I bent down to plug in the vacuum(?!!?!?) (!!!) (?!?!) which was so sad. Basically if you are going to be doing any sort of squats/bending DO NOT WEAR THEM!! DON’T DO IT!!

Listening to: Is There Somewhere – Halsey

(Jeans – Hurricane Jeans $120)(Top – Glassons $30)(Bralette – Glassons $30)(Shoes – Glassons $45)

TGIF! Summer nights are the very best for town because you don’t get cold but also it is the ideal season for hitting a nice destination and having a few pretty drinks. For your more classy (we are adults now right?) night out this is my classic look (also lol @picture three because it is my realtime reaction to my neighbour getting home and catching me taking these killer pics).

Tip: If you are small chested like me, bralettes are the prettiest saviour of all. True, you kind of have to embrace that you have nothing there because they definitely don’t give you any push up, but they sit nicely and close against you, look good and add another dimension to your outfit.

Listening to: No More Sad Songs – Little Mix

(Top – Glassons $35) (Skirt – Admittedly mine is branded from Australia but you can get a black skirt for about $25 – $30 from Glassons or another chain) (Shoes – Glassons $45)

Saturday beach day! Saturday adventure day! Saturday dress like ABBA day!

Tip: If you are going to the beach always wear your swimsuit under your clothes just in case.

Listening to: When You Were Young – The Killers

(Top – Factorie $30)(Shorts – Factorie $20)(Shoes – Glassons $45)(Hat- Vietnam Markets $5)

SundayScreen Shot 2017-01-12 at 5.10.35 PM.pngThe kind of day where you get out of bed, throw on the first things you see and then can roll out the door without caring because it’s summer! You literally look fine in the most basic, most comfortable outfits! What a season to love!

Tip: Check the weather forecast before you leave the house to make sure any rain/temperature drops & rises won’t catch you by surprise.

Listening to: My Shot – Hamilton Soundtrack

(Top – Glassons $5)(Shorts – New Beach $25)(Hat – Vietnam Markets $5)

Hope life is treating you sweetly my sweets, see you next Saturday xx

  1. Have you shopped at H&M yet? I went in once but was so overwhelmed by the variety that I walked out empty handed. It’s not really for myself but for my daughter, turning 13 this year.

I haven’t! I would like to have a look someday because i have heard it is affordable?? bless 13! That is my cousins age – where is your favourite place to shop for her??

      1. It is very reasonably priced! I don’t have a favourite place as it is such a difficult age to shop for. She is also tall, slender with no curves which means most pants for her age don’t fit. We find Farmers clothes for tweens to be suitable but it’s definitely not the most affordable.

Yes! that is the exact trouble I had growing up! I think I used to get my pants from justjeans but they are well overpriced for what they offer at the moment. It is mad because it is a whole new world once you grow enough to fit adult clothes – the range of beautiful, well fitting thing goes from 0 to 100 so quickly.
